There are 24 state high courts in India, and according to article 214, every state shall have a high court. High court CHD is an ordinary high court for the state Punjab, Haryana and the union territory of Chandigarh.

Every high court of India must have a chief judge and another judge appointed by the president of India, though the total number of judges varies from court to court. It was established in Lahore on 21st March 1919.
